Translating the design that you have envisioned
Look for design inspirations online and capture pictures of the jewellery. Note down the small little details you would like to include in your own jewellery. After all these tedious works, pen down your thoughts and then engage a jeweller. Seek help from them and engage them to provide you a sketch of the jewellery. Draw in detail and do not be afraid to have multiple sketches as you are the one paying the money. (But of course, don’t get too overboard!)
Add in those details
Let them know how many diamonds you would want, size of diamond. If not, gemstones are a great alternative for a pop of colour. There are many gemstones in the market. The more common used ones are rubies and sapphires. However, if you would like the best of both worlds, just include everything that you want! Consider the material, a preferable material would be gold and platinum. Consider the style of your jewellery, would u prefer statement pieces or minimalist designs. Pen it all down!
Schedule an appointment with the jeweller to discuss on the recommendations on how he/she can create the jewellery to its best. Also, ask your jeweller to show some of their previous custom-made pieces to ensure that he is capable of doing something of your liking.
Confirming the sketch
Look through the sketch in detail and ask the jeweller to explain to you on how is he going to create this piece of jewellery. Then, the jeweller should provide a 3D design including its dimensions, colour and gemstones/diamonds. After confirming, remember to always ask for the overall cost of the entire process. Also to stay within your budget. If it is way more than what you can afford, change its material, or lessen the gemstones etc. Do not be afraid to review the sketch more than once and keep improving until you finally approve of the design.
